New Beacon School (Uganda) - January 2018

Beacon Equity Trust (BET) Trustees are very pleased to announce an expansion of the Beacon Programme into Uganda with the signing of Kampala International School Uganda (KISU) as a Partner Beacon School.

KISU joins 12 other top secondary schools in the region (Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda) to offer The Beacon Scholarship for Schools.

The intention of The Beacon Scholarship is to enable especially gifted children to obtain a high quality education at a Beacon School which their parents would otherwise be unable to afford, and which will eventually enable them to attain leadership positions in their home country.

Beacon Schools are equal stakeholders alongside BET and Beacon Scholar parents/guardians; each party funds 1/3 of termly tuition fees. The schools are also committed to building the leadership skills of Beacon Scholars, and to mentoring them to help them realise their potential. BET itself independently provides training and mentoring through the development of personal leadership and teambuilding skills. Beacon Scholars are also required to undertake a Citizenship Project every summer and present it to the Beacon Community.

The addition of this top school at secondary level in Uganda continues BET's strategy of building and broadening a vertical platform for developing future leaders. In addition to  secondary schools, BET has partnerships to enable entry into five leading international universities via The Beacon Scholarship for University.
