Santayian Kantai

Santayian update 2 largeAttended Imperial College London and graduated in 2022, having held a Beacon Scholarship for three years. Santayian, from Kenya, has obtained a graduate position as Talent Sponsor with the tech start-up recruitment consulting company Hiperpool.

Santayian graduated with a BSc in Medical Biosciences, achieving a 2.1 overall. During her studies, she attended various talks and events hosted by societies linked to her degree.

During her time at Imperial College, Santayian pursued her passion for Salsa/Bachata – performing in a dance Showcase, doing a full-day workshop in Birmingham and receiving a medal at a dance event. She is also very keen on keeping fit, completing regular online workouts at home, including devising her own workouts. Santayian has also been the President of the East African Society (EASOC) and set up a mentor scheme for 1st year students, as well as organising social activities to ensure that members felt connected with a wider community. She posted an Instagram story for Black History Month that reached 6000 hits and generated much positive feedback.

Santayian has been keen to promote the interests of special needs communities in Nairobi, and her Beacon Citizenship Projects have focused on this. Her work has been recognised and was part-funded by Imperial College. She remains committed to promoting the interests of special needs groups, and is currently trying to publish her online guides on the health issues faced by children with Downs Syndrome.
